Yuich Kimura interviewed 107 comedian groups as the Director of “We Want to Laugh (tentative name),” unveiling each comedian’s real life.
This film is the first documentary project aimed to start the next 100 years for Yoshimoto Kogyo, as the company celebrates its 100-year anniversary. At Aeon Cinema Kyoto Katsuragawa, the interview videos of 10 different comedians were screened over 2 days, the 17th and 18th of October. And after each screening, many comedians gathered together to join the greetings.
The first day started with interviews of leading figures Nikaku Shofukutei and Ameagari Kesshitai, who join a lot of popular TV programs as emcees. After the screening, Yuichi Kimura came up to the stage, and following him, guests related to the two comedians had screenings, with Hosei Tsukitei, Daisuke Miyagawa and Naoki Tanaka of cocorico also appearing on the stage.
Miyagawa shared his experience working with Shofukutei. “Even when he just comes up to the stage, the audience starts to laugh,” he said. Kimura added, “I can hear the audience calling his name ‘Nikaku!’”
Miyagawa continued, “Hiroyuki Miyasako loves to tell the same story over and over again when he is drunk, and it appears again in the movie.” But he was impressed that Toru Hotohara of Ameagari Kesshitai expressed the support of Button Nakata. Tanaka and Tsukitei also shared their experiences of their friendship.
In the end, Kimura introduced Hiroshi Shinagawa of Shinagawa Shoji, who talked about his favorite words from Miyagawa. The cast greeting finished with a lot of laughter.
