KYOTO INTERNATIONAL FILM AND ART FESTIVAL 2015

On opening day, the film festival’s essential“Red Carpet” event takes place at Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theater, located in Kyoto’s largest geisha quarter, Gion Kobu. Also known as the venue for the traditional Spring Dance Festival,“Miyako Odori,”since 1872, the 50m red carpet is rolled out within the historical building to welcome celebrities from Japan and abroad, from actors and directors, to artists participating in the Art Category. Last year, the event’s gracious and elegant atmosphere becoming of Kyoto also garnered a favorable response from the foreign press as well.

Following the red carpet event, the“Opening Ceremony” takes place at the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theater. While numerous guests look on, Kyoto International Film and Art Festival highlights are introduced from each program, including film screenings, art work and art exhibitions. Continuing from last year, the recipient of the“ Shozo Makino Award ”&“ Toshiro Mifune Award”will also be announced. The award is presented to honor those who have made significant contributions to Japanese cinema.

October 18 is the last day of the Kyoto International Film and Art Festival. The Closing Ceremony will be held at the Gyoun banquet hall(4th floor)of Kyoto Hotel Okura. Screening footage of the 4-day festival, participating guests and festival staff will gather to look back on the events, enjoying a Grand finale together. Last Year's Photo.
